ST. PETERSBURG. The Swiss Film Week kicked off on Thursday at the Landok Open Film Studio in St. Petersburg. The festival program includes documentaries and feature films of recent years. Swiss Film Week is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Russia.
The festival opened with a display of the painting “Healing. Life is different ”, which is the main hit of Swiss hire this year. Director Andrea Shtaka personally presented his film to St. Petersburg viewers, telling about the 14-year-old Linda, who cannot survive the tragic death of her friend and gradually "takes over" her personality.
“Thanks to this festival, Russians will be able to make sure that Switzerland is not only cheese, watches and chocolate. Switzerland is the whole world, and it will not disappoint you, ”said Michel Fayette, Swiss Consul General in St. Petersburg in his speech.
The screening program also includes the retro-drama “I am the goalkeeper”, which won the Swiss Film Award 2014. The film won four awards in seven categories, including the nomination “Best Film of the Year”. The film tells about the attempts of the protagonist, just released from prison, to start a new, right life. Among other films of the show are the romantic melodrama “Pause”, the documentaries “Winter Wanderers” and “Laundry Key”, as well as the adventurous comedy “Green Gold” - about the struggle of enterprising residents of the city of Ticino with the consequences of the economic crisis.
The organizers of the week of Swiss cinema were the Consulate General of Switzerland in St. Petersburg and the Embassy of Switzerland in the Russian Federation with the support of the cinema club "Cinema Mafia". All films within the framework of the Swiss Film Week are broadcast in the original language with Russian subtitles.
