The play "A Thousand and One ..." - the world of Arabian fairy tales on the stage of the comedy Shelter theater Automatic translate
ST. PETERSBURG. Artists of the comedy shelter theater on December 12 showed fans of their work the premiere of the play staged by director Yana Tumin from the famous book of Arabian tales. “One Thousand and One” - this is the name of the creators of the play, which uses the plots of the first and last tales of a collection of wonderful stories dedicated to the eternal theme - love.
Four artists participate in the performance - Mikhail Samochko, Marina Solopchenko, Alisa Oleinik, Andrey Shimko. Its creators designated the genre of the play unusually - a quest for four characters. The director, using the motifs of the famous cycle of fairy tales, the game form of what is happening on the stage, sent the characters to a different reality.
Thus, Yana Tumin allowed artists to transform, to behave differently, even to think differently than in the ordinary world. The play organically combines exciting real stories with fiction, which seems to be fiction only at first glance. Once in a fairytale space, the heroes realize that each of them began to respond more quickly to what is happening around them, to everything incredible, which has a direct connection with children’s faith in miracles, games and legends.
Since the basis of the play was Arabic fairy tales, modern motifs with oriental flavor were mixed in the productions. It has a lot of music, events on the scene sometimes unfold quite unexpectedly. The creators of the production, talking about serious problems, often use an ironic tone. The conditional reality created on stage perfectly coexists with real conventions.
The creativity of Yana Tumin is familiar to the Petersburg public. Her performances are in the Bolshoi Theater, the Vasilyevsky Theater, and the Puppet Theater. The AXE theater’s repertoire presents a number of performances staged by Yana Tumin.
