The musical “Hero of Our Time” premiered on the stage of the Omsk Musical Theater Automatic translate
OMSK. The premiere of “Lieutenant of the Tenginsky Regiment” was held on December 19 at the Omsk Musical Theater. The creators of the musical dedicated their new production to the 200th anniversary of M. Lermontov. The basis of the musical was the poet’s prose work, familiar to everyone from school, “The Hero of Our Time”, supplemented by his poems.
The performance was staged by director Gali Abaidulov, who simultaneously took upon himself the work on the choreographic component of the performance. At a press conference held in the theater on December 17, the director emphasized that he did not set the goal of an accurate analysis of Lermontov’s biography.
All the events that took place in the life of the poet and the hero of the novel are compressed in the play. The stage space united the whole world where the life of the characters of the musical took place - Petersburg and Kislovodsk, Pyatigorsk and the mountains.
Kirill Piskunov, production director from St. Petersburg, worked on the musical design. He created original scenery, the main part of which was a giant rock. During the performance, it rotates, turning either into a mountain aul or into the staircase of the Hermitage.
The creators of the musical paid great attention to the costumes of his heroes. This is especially noticeable in the female characters of the production. During the performance, which lasts two hours, each of the actresses changes their costumes at least five times. In the theater sewing workshop 220 costumes were sewn for the participants of the musical.
In the new work of the musical theater, which became the All-Russian premiere, the entire choir of the troupe, as well as theater ballet dancers, are engaged. In the first part of the musical, the main character was Poruchik (Lermontov), whose role was performed by Jani Okropiridze, and the second act is dedicated to Pechorin. The authorship of the musical component of the production belongs to Shirvani Chalaev, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation.
