The festival "Russian Abroad" starts in November Automatic translate
MOSCOW. The VIII International Film Festival "Russian Abroad" will open on November 7 at the Moscow House of Russian Abroad. The program of the film festival included 27 documentary and feature films from more than 100 countries. Particular attention this year will be given to the theme of the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War.
As noted in a press release of the upcoming event, the film forum "Russian Abroad" is a unique and so far the only film festival in the Russian Federation, the focus of which has always been and will be the main theme of the Russian world. “The Russian abroad is not only emigration, it is the world of any person who thinks he is Russian and lives outside his ethnic homeland. The Russian world is the world of Russian culture, language and memory of ancestors. One way or another, this is narrated by each of the festival paintings, ”the organizing committee notes.
Over the years of the existence of the film festival, its laureates and guests at different times were Nikolai Karachentsov, Nikita Mikhalkov, Yuri Solomin, Aida Vedishcheva, Yuri Nazarov, Andris Liepa and many others. More than 130 documentary and feature films of foreign and domestic filmmakers from 15 countries participated in the competition program of the film forum over 8 years of its holding. This year, the guest of honor of the film festival "Russian Abroad" was the son of the legendary American actor of Russian origin Yul Brinner - Rock Brinner.
Yul Brinner (Yuli Borisovich Briner) was born on the territory of the USSR, in Vladivostok, but by the will of fate he lived all his life abroad. We are known for his leading roles in such legendary films as “The King and Me” (1956 release, and already in 1957 received the Academy Award for playing the leading male role in this film), “The Magnificent Seven” (1960), "Solomon and the Queen of Sheba" (1959). At the film forum, as part of out-of-competition screenings, the debut of the film “Yul Brynner: the soul of a tramp” (the film studio “Russian Way”, 2014) will be held - the first Russian-language film dedicated to the life of a famous film and theater actor.
The organizers of the VIII International Film Festival "Russian Abroad" are the film studio "Russian Way" and the House of Russian Abroad named after A. Solzhenitsyna with the support of the Government of Moscow, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Federal Agency "Rossotrudnichestvo".
