ST. PETERSBURG. The premiere of the play "Erendira" opened a new season on the second stage of the BDT. The production was based on the work of the same name written by Gabriel Marquez, a famous Colombian writer. The prose of Marquez in the BDT was first addressed, and for Fedor Lavrov, an artist of the Moscow Art Theater. Chekhov, the play was the directorial debut.

After Fyodor Lavrov graduated from the Academy of Theater Arts in St. Petersburg, the BDT Theater was the first place of work of the young actor. Andrei Moguchy, head of the BDT, is well aware of Lavrov’s creative potential, and he became his inspiration for work as a director on a production based on Marquez’s prose. The performance, accompanied by music in the "Latin" style, with poetry from Latin America included in it, recalls the drawn postcards with which Mexicans express gratitude to the saints for their help.

However, the director actively uses modern technical effects and computer graphics. The constant movement of parts of the scene, the absence of a curtain, which is replaced by projections of thematic sketches and pictures, becoming part of the story told in the play. Lavrov himself is also on stage as a journalist. It helps viewers understand the characters’ characters.

The director says that the work on this performance became a real test for him, and the leading actor, Nina Usatova, noted that it would be difficult for the audience unfamiliar with Marquez’s works to understand this story.
