ST. PETERSBURG. The performance of the famous opera The Queen of Spades, written by P. I. Tchaikovsky, closed in St. Petersburg with the festival Opera for All, which is being held for the third time this year. For the first time this unique event, which provided an opportunity for residents of the city and its guests to get acquainted with the masterpieces of classical Russian opera, took place in 2012.

This project is interesting for the audience, primarily because opera performances are presented to the audience not in the theater hall, but against the background of the natural architecture of the most beautiful places in St. Petersburg. Accessibility of the project is no less important - everyone can see opera performances. The number of seats is not limited.

This year, three venues were selected to show the performances of opera artists. Each production took place in places related to the history of the city. The festival opened on July 12 in the Peter and Paul Fortress. Spectators gathered on Cathedral Square heard the last of the operas written by Rimsky-Korsakov - the fairy tale "The Golden Cockerel"

The production was attended by the Hermitage Orchestra, conducted by Fabio Mastrangelo, musical director of the project, and the Italian conductor. Accompanied by a joint choir, solo parts were performed by leading masters of St. Petersburg musical theaters. Many arias from this opera are well known to the public - they often sound in a concert version.

In the Alexander Park, against the backdrop of the Music Hall Theater, on July 19, another stage was unfolded. The artists of this theater, designated in the festival poster as “Special Guests”, showed the audience the only opera in the legacy of the great Beethoven - “Fidelio”.

The Queen of Spades, which closed the festival, sounded in one of the famous St. Petersburg parks - in front of the famous palace on Elagin Island.
