MOSCOW. In the most famous of the country’s puppet theaters, the metropolitan theater. Obraztsova, on June 10, the long-awaited event took place - the opening of a new scene. The decision to create it was made back in 2009, the process of reconstruction of the building, built many years ago, turned out to be complicated and lengthy.

As a result of the reconstruction, the theater has a third stage, where performances for kids will now be shown. In the hall on comfortable chairs 50 children can be accommodated. The theater management plans to transfer performances in the theater museum to a new stage. Before the advent of the new scene, they could only be seen during a tour of the museum.

At the opening of the stage there were also small spectators, for whom they showed the performance “Snowman”, a performance marked with the Golden Mask Award. Next season, viewers will see new performances. The modern equipment that the stage is equipped with will allow the use of various effects in the performances. The first premiere will be the work of Boris Konstantinov, the main director of the theater - the play “Ali Baba”.

There are two rehearsal rooms in the building, therefore a training center will work here, where actors of puppet theaters will improve their skills. Future plans include the creation of a studio at the theater - the first Moscow school of puppet art. According to the director of the theater, Irina Korchevnikova, the stage that has opened is the first step on the road to realizing Sergei Obraztsov’s dream - the creation of an International Center for Puppet Art.

On July 2, the first international project will begin work here. Nicolas Hussef, a famous teacher-puppeteer from France, will hold a master class in the new building. It is possible that the sketches created as part of the master class will become the basis for a new performance.
