Sausage / Slices in the center of Meyerhold Automatic translate
April 9, 10, and April 21, 2014 at 20.00 on the stage of the Theater Center. All the Meyerhold premieres of the play “Sausage / Fragments” staged based on the play by the student of Nikolai Kolyada Valery Shergin. Shergin was born in Sarapul, studied in Yekaterinburg, was an actor. As a playwright, he is distinguished by freedom of thinking, a sense of style and an understanding of the playful nature of the theater, combined with genuine knowledge of life’s realities. His works won many competitions, were repeatedly presented at the Lyubimovka festival of young drama, and the play The Concentration Camp won the Grand Prix at the Texture 2012 Festival in Perm.
This is the first production of Shergin on the Moscow stage. In the tiny space of the Black Hall of the Center. Vs. Meyerhold, at arm’s length from the viewer - ten people with different characters, different fates, different experiences - mother, father, daughter, son, son’s friend and father’s friend, daughter’s groom, mother of the groom - united by close family ties, a tough history and the fate of a pig bought to make a sausage out of it for Katya’s wedding. Nine months of one year that changed the fate of all these people. A piece of life, peeped at a crack.
The author of the play initially set an unrealistic narrative structure, mixing all fourteen fragments in chronological sequence and determining the location of the pig’s barn. The modern Russian village, where Russians, Tatars and Votyaks live, who marry their own people, are afraid of strangers, go to the big world and go to the Sarapulsky Drama Theater, talk on cell phones and perform pagan rituals - everything is mixed up in our lives. The story is about fathers and children who torment each other precisely because no one is dearer to them, about love, which is more important than nothing, and that for the sake of a new life someone must be cut. An attempt to understand the other - and oneself.
The performance was directed by Ksenia Zorina, and the artist was Andrei Danovsky. The production is performed by artists known to the audience for their work in the Theater Center. Sun Meyerhold, Center for Drama and Director, directed by M. Roshchin and A. Kazantsev, Theater.doc, RAMTe, Theater named after V. Mayakovsky, and recent graduates of Moscow theater universities.
