Natori Theater introduced a play by the founder of the theater of the absurd in Japan Automatic translate
MOSCOW. Spectators who visited the theater “Near Stanislavsky’s House”, where a code was playing on its stage, reminiscent of the popular tragicomedy written by the Irish playwright Samuel Beckett, was able to get acquainted with the stage art of Japan. The Japanese theater Natori presented the play “Godo has come” to the capital’s theater-goers, written by Betsuyak Minor, a writer who founded the theater of the absurd in Japan.
This play was the writer’s response to the Irish playwright to his play, Waiting for Godot. Now the audience got the opportunity to find out what happened when the long-awaited Godot finally appeared in front of them. The performance was directed by K. Kiyama. His productions are popular not only among viewers in Japan - the director also works with actors from other countries.
In the theater “Near the House of Stanislavsky”, the play “Godot came” was shown in Japanese, but this did not prevent the audience from following the plot of the play - the production was accompanied by Russian subtitles. The main character is an eccentric man holding an umbrella, dressed in a light cloak and a bowler hat, declares his presence before he even has time to appear on the stage.
The producer of the performance Toshiyuki Natori says that the main idea of the performance was the desire to show the indifference and disunity of people. Godot came, but it turned out that no one noticed him, no one needed him. It is obvious that during this time the world managed to change. According to the producer, the theater really wanted the work of the most famous Japanese playwright to become known to people around the world.
The life of performances in Japanese theaters is short. A rare production remains in the repertoire for more than a month. The play "Godot has come", staged in 2011, was an exception. During this time, he successfully passed in many countries, and after Moscow he is expected in Romania.
