Premiere at the Vasilyevsky Theater - “Through the Eyes of a Clown” based on the novel by Heinrich Böll Automatic translate
ST. PETERSBURG. Spectators who decide to visit the Theater on Vasilyevsky on weekends will have the opportunity to see the new work of director Denis Khusniyarov, laureate of the Proryv Theater Prize. The director presents a stage reading of the famous novel “Through the Eyes of a Clown”, written in 1963 by the German writer Heinrich Böll.
This novel instantly gained incredible popularity among readers, but was not accepted by critics, and the Catholic Church anathematized the writer. Theater named after In 1968, the Moscow City Council staged a play based on the novel, which became popular among theater-goers. The story told by Heinrich Belle was written on behalf of a man who was alone.
Actor Hans Schnier, whose life was dedicated to comic roles, a gifted and subtly sensitive person, is trying to understand why his life turned out that way. The character of the play is similar in character to the jesters from the works of Shakespeare, daring to tell the truth in person.
This has become the main reason for the actor’s disagreement with the world around him. Creative crisis and love tragedy aggravate the conflict. Friends and colleagues are indifferent to the state of the hero, and there’s practically nothing to live on. Hans takes the list of telephones of all relatives and friends, and begins to call them one by one, recalling his life behind this occupation. The only person present in the memoirs of the hero of the play is the lover who has left him, whom he loves with all his heart.
The play, staged by Denis Khusniyarov, like Belle’s novel, is a confession of a person who does not perceive the hypocrisy and indifference of others. The role of the main character will be performed in turn by Andrei Feskov and Bulat Shamsutdinov. The design of the performance was occupied by Maria Golovina and Nikolai Slobodyanik.
