The brilliant program “Dances of the peoples of the world” will be presented by the world’s first professional folk dance ensemble - the State Academic Folk Dance Ensemble named after Igor Moiseyev, known worldwide as Igor Moiseyev Ballet.
The illustrious Igor Moiseyev Ballet was created by the great choreographer of the twentieth century Igor Moiseyev in 1937. Since then, the ensemble has been a symbol of highly professional and at the same time extremely sincere and cordial art, the pride and glory of our era. Spectators from different countries do not get tired of wondering how easily and harmoniously in the work of this collective the directness of folk dance and the severity of academic manner, humor and high pathetics, all kinds and types of dances are combined.
The ensemble’s repertoire includes about two hundred works staged by Igor Moiseyev - dances, miniatures, choreographic paintings and suites. The “Olympic program” of the famous collective included dances of 14 countries.
Russian dance “Summer”, Greek “Sirtaki”, Sicilian tarantella, Moldavian “Jock”, a suite of Mexican dances, choreographic picture “On the ice rink”, the legendary Moiseev’s “Yablochko” - this is an incomplete list of numbers included in the program specially prepared for the Olympic Cultural Program Winter Games, which is really in tune with the spirit of the multinational Olympic movement, its principles of intercultural unity and democracy.
In February 2012, the ensemble celebrated its 75th anniversary. Today, the team remains the embodiment of creative energy and dynamic professional development, the successes of which are marked by the most prestigious international awards, among which is the UNESCO “Five Continents” medal.
This meeting with a unique ensemble, the keeper of folk dance traditions and the legacy of the great ballet master - Maestro Igor Aleksandrovich Moiseev will become vivid and memorable for the audience.
