KOSTROMA. On the stage of the Kostroma Drama Theater in the evening, December 9, the closing ceremony of the festival "Days of Ostrovsky" took place. Participants of the festival program were awarded prizes in various categories.

The director of the Rybinsk Drama Theater received an award for best directing in the play "Wolves and Sheep", and actress Alla Smolenkova for the role of Kupavna in this performance received a prize for the main female role. The jury called her work the opening of the festival.

A real sensation was the presentation of the prize for the main male role to the artist of the Kostroma theater Emiliano Ochagavia. Robinson, performed by the actor in the play “Dowry”, is difficult to attribute to the main characters - he is on stage for about 15 minutes. However, the jury noted that over the past five years there was no better male actor in Ostrovsky’s plays than Emiliano Ochagavia.

A surprise for many spectators was the out-of-competition performance “Ekaterina Ivanovna” shown on the last festival day - the work of actors from the Yaroslavl Theater named after Volkova. The show “Talents and Fans” was originally planned, but the possibilities of the Kostroma scene were not enough for him.

"Ekaterina Ivanovna", staged by Yevgeny Marcelli based on a play by Leonid Andreyev, is one of the best performances in the Yaroslavl theater, and was awarded the Golden Olympus theater prize. Although the creators of the play warned that this production was intended for adults, trained spectators, the Kostroma audience perceived it ambiguously. Some were shocked by what was happening on stage.

It is interesting that Sergei Kuzmich, the artistic director of the Kostroma theater, working in a different manner, called the work of the Yaroslavl genius, and the audience after the performance did not let the actors leave the stage for a long time.
