Tours of the Czech National Theater on the stage of the Moscow Art Theater. Chekhov Automatic translate
MOSCOW. After a long break for only four days, the Czech National Theater arrived in the capital. Czech artists met with spectators on the big stage of the Moscow Art Theater. Chekhov, where on October 26 and 27, director Michal Dochekal presented a play based on a play written by the Austrian playwright Elfrida Jelinek.
The title of this performance makes one recall two works of the famous Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen - “Pillars of society” and “Doll’s house”. Elfrida Jelinek in the play embodied her imagination about the fate of Nora, the main character of the “Doll House”, imagining how her life might develop in the future.
In his play, the playwright describes the 30s, when the economic crisis reigned, predicting to a society where the laws of profit by any means dominate, a catastrophe. Elfrida does not have much sympathy for her heroine - even having freed herself from marriage, she still lives, trying to please men.
In his reading of the story invented by Elfrida Jelinek, the Czech director skillfully used the language of farce, due to which the performance turned out to be full of brilliance and irony. The musical accompaniment of the performance was created by composer Milos Orson Stedron, using the motives of modern classics and jazz compositions in it. In the main role, the audience saw the magnificent Czech actress Katerina Winterova.
In the next two days, on October 28 and 29, Czech artists will present on the Small Stage of the Moscow Art Theater another directorial work by Michal Dochekal - the famous play Waiting for Godot, written by one of the founders of the theater of the absurd, Samuel Becket.
November 2, artists of the Moscow Art Theater. Chekhov will arrive in Prague with a return tour. Czech spectators on the stage of the National Theater will see the performances “The White Guard” and “The Last Victim”.
