MOSCOW. The legendary Taganka Theater opens the anniversary season on September 5 with a performance staged by actor and director Veniamin Smekhov. The troupe of the theater on Taganka dedicated the poetic composition “No Years” to the actor Valery Zolotukhin, who participated in the birth of the new theater half a century ago, and in the last year of his life he led the theater collective.

The determining direction of Taganka’s work in the new season is preparation for the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the theater, which will be celebrated on April 23, 2014. Organized in 1964, the Taganka Theater became famous after the premiere of its first performance, “The Good Man from Cezuan”, staged by its artistic director Yuri Lyubimov. The very next day, the whole theater capital spoke about the new theater.

It was from this performance, where almost the entire composition of the troupe was occupied, the story of the Legend began. The theater’s repertoire did not have performances in which empty seats in the hall. The names of the actors who performed on the Taganka stage remained forever in the memory of the audience.

Before the performance was shown at the theater, a press conference was held at which the Director of the theater, Vladimir Fleisher, spoke about the theater’s immediate plans for the new season. According to him, the first premiere of the season that opens will be the play "Gedda Gabler", staged by director Gulnara Galavinskaya. Then it is planned to show the audience the work of the director Igor Konyaev “Voice of the Father”.

Two performances, which so far have only working names, are dedicated to the history of the Taganka Theater. Two young directors are working on them - S. Alexandrovsky and A. Stadnikov. It is possible that if negotiations with Yuri Lyubimov are successful, in October some of the performances loved by the audience will return to the stage.
