A performance based on the first novel by Sasha Sokolov will be shown in autumn in Chelyabinsk Automatic translate
CHELYABINSK. The last day of the end of the theatrical season at the Chamber Theater was dedicated to the performance, preparing to participate in the eleventh Camerata festival. The opening of the festival, and with it the new theater season, will take place on October 4th. The first festival show will be the play "School for Fools", staged based on the book of the same name by Sasha Sokolov.
This original novel about a teenager suffering from a split personality was written by the author in 1975. A year later, the book was published in the United States, where Sasha Sokolov was in exile at that time. This product became available to Russians more than ten years later. Vladimir Nabokov called this novel a book charming, touching and, at the same time, tragic.
Not all readers accepted the School for Fools, it’s difficult to even read it, however, according to the theater director Victoria Meshchaninova, the more interesting it is to tell this unusual story on stage. Moscow stage director Larisa Alexandrova was invited to stage the play. She has already successfully worked with the actors of the Chamber Theater. She staged the play “The Fairy Tale” in the theater, and brought the director the title of Laureate of the last year’s theater festival - “Scene 2012”.
Since the hero of the production is not an ordinary sixth grader, two actors play this role. In the course of the performance, it becomes clear how different each of them has the perception of the world around them. They often argue with each other, because the worlds in which they live are not the same.
There is still a lot of work to complete the work on the play. Continued rehearsals will follow in late summer. It is planned to use a 3D image in the play - a technology new to the theater. An original musical accompaniment is being prepared.
