The applause at the premiere of "Fairies of the Carnival" confirmed - the operetta genre is alive Automatic translate
MOSCOW. On the stage of the Moscow Operetta Theater, the premiere of Kalman’s not-so-famous work “Fairy of the Carnival”, staged by director Jeanne Gerder, took place. She also became the author of the new libretto, written back in 1917, including a funny intrigue in the plot. Such an update of the storyline made it possible to make the main characters of the play three age-old characters.
Thanks to the director’s approach to staging the performance, the operetta has become an excellent performance for three leading theater artists - Svetlana Varguzova, Gerard Vasiliev and Yuri Vedeneev. Their wonderful voice and acting data, honed professionalism made the operetta characters vivid and memorable.
The main arias in the “Carnival Fairy” are performed by Varguzov, captivating the audience not only with wonderful singing, but also with luxurious outfits. The hero-lover performed by Gerard Vasiliev is elegant and noble, and Yuri Vedeneev in his role masterly creates comedic situations characteristic of the operetta genre.
The young generation of artists plays and sings in the play, too, wonderful, but by the will of the director they had to give primacy to the masters of the theater. The spectators who were sitting in the hall to another performer of the supporting role did not remain indifferent. The half-mad prompter, constantly confusing cues from different plays, performed by the famous artist Alexander Markelov, was a success with the public.
All dance melodies written by Kalman for this operetta remained in place, but received a modern arrangement for the orchestra, performed by composer Ephraim Podgaits. The musical director of the theater team Konstantin Khvatynets took a place at the director’s console. The performance was extremely warmly received by the audience in the hall.
