The director believes that “Three Sisters” is a universal story that is not tied to time and place. That is why Chekhov’s drama is in demand all over the world. Dodin saw in the play a story about the injustice of a world in which well-being is not given to those who deserve it, about the unfulfilled fates of three women with their dream of the future, which is actually longing for a prosperous past.

The heroines of the play cannot resist the vulgarity of a provincial town, although each of them is a person with deep and passionate feelings. Stage-by-stage scenes run through the entire performance, for which Lev Dodin took a place on the steps taken out of the ramp. This is a place for the confession of the heroes, where they talk about the main thing - love, leaving the life of the Prozorovs.

Opinions of the public about the production were mixed, but the performance staged by a true master should be so.
