SARATOV. The Knushevitsky Cello Competition brought success to five contestants from Russia.
Svyatoslav Knushevitsky was called the cello poet, who knew how to extract sounds of amazing beauty from it with his melodious bow. While Mstislav Leopoldovich Rostropovich was only on the approaches to his stellar career, the title of the best cellist in the country belonged to Svyatoslav Nikolaevich. As part of a unique trio, which apart from him included David Oistrakh and Lev Oborin, as well as solo concerts, he traveled to many countries. The audience gratefully accepted the lyricism and the penetration of his interpretations of Rachmaninov, Haydn, Tchaikovsky. This sympathetic, friendly and very charming person with the same sympathy treated the audience and colleagues.
The best place, despite the vast geography of his tour, was for him the small town of Petrovsk in the Saratov region on the banks of the river with the unusual name Medveditsa. The symbolic return to the small homeland took place in 2012, when the International Competition named after the great countryman was founded in Saratov. In 2016, it was already the third time. The current competition was successful for Russian participants in all age groups. In the category under 18 years old, where Zhai Zi Mo from China won, the third place went to Lyudmila Funtikova, a student of Galina Sakmarova. The young cellist from Chuvashia is a participant in many international festivals and competitions: Souvenir Russo, “Shores of Hope”, “MARATO de PRIMAVERA”.
In the senior group, four contestants from Russia became laureates. The highest step of the “pedestal” was occupied by Rustem Khamidullin and Darima Tsyrempilova. Alexandra Perlova, scholarship holder of the Rostropovich Fund, took second place. Student of Lev Evgrafov, laureate and diploma of various competitions Timur Kolodyazhny - the third. For the Ufa resident Rustem Hamidullin, a pupil of Ivan Monighetti and Konradin Brotbek, the victory in Saratov became a compensation for the relative failure in the Tchaikovsky competition. After the announcement of the names of the winners - a traditional departure with a concert in Petrovsk.
