MOSCOW. On the 100th anniversary of Svyatoslav Richter, a limited edition collection box with 50 discs has been released.

The happy owners of a rarity echo the words of Neuhaus, who once said about Richter that he had been waiting for such a student all his life. Such a number of carefully digitized rare records in one collection turned out to be available for the first time. Among them are concert programs, home rehearsals made at the very beginning of a phenomenal recording career. On the disks are his favorite works, during the polishing of which he achieved absolute perfection, duets with excellent partners, performances with the best orchestras.

The interest in Richter’s personality, comparable in its versatility, scale and bottomlessness of talent with the Renaissance titans, only grows over the years. Many of the secrets and mysteries that accompanied him from his youth have not been solved until now. Some of the circumstances of his youth, without breaking irrevocably, left a tragic trace in his soul.

His father, a talented pianist and organist, conveyed to his son a great love of music, encouraged his desire to compose music. After Svyatoslav’s move to study in Moscow, his parents remained in Odessa. Here they met the war. The ability to evacuate was rejected by Richter’s mother because of a connection with the person who caused the death of his father. Theofil Danilovich, a German by nationality, was among the several thousand inhabitants of Odessa who were arrested by order of Beria because of an undesirable fifth point. Soon he was shot. A familiar mother was involved in this tragedy, who wrote a denunciation on Svyatoslav Teofilovich’s father. Soon the scoundrel married the musician’s mother and left with her in Germany. And only the music into which Richter went, according to the testimony of friends, as in a monastery, allowed him to survive the betrayal of the closest person. And later to be above the various rumors and conjectures that invariably accompanied him throughout his life.
