MOSCOW. Non / fiction book fair started at the Central House of Artists.
Toward the close of the Year of the Language and Literature of Great Britain in Russia, the Non-fiction Book Fair opened at the Central House of Artists. The traditional writers’ landing includes 13 authors from the banks of the Thames. Jonathan Coe (Jonathan Coe) introduced his new book Number 11, which was announced as a sequel to his acclaimed satirical novel “What a Carve Up!” (What a Carve Up!).
Jim Crace is an honorary doctorate for excellence in literature. His latest allegorical novel, Harvest, describes the life of an English outback in the 16th century. Harvest was nominated for the 2013 Booker and received the James Tait Black Memorial Prize and the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. David Almond is an Andersen Prize winner, a popular children’s writer whose books are actively translated into different languages and filmed to the delight of a children’s audience.
Emma Healey, another guest of the fair, was awarded the Costa Award for her debut novel, "Find Elizabeth" (Elizabeth is missing). A detective novel with a fascinating parallel narrative is a story about attempts by a lady suffering from Alzheimer’s disease to find her missing girlfriend. The visit of Julian Barnes (Julian Patrick Barnes) was impatiently awaited not only by bibliophiles, but also by music lovers. His “Noise of Time”, dedicated to Dmitry Shostakovich, is one of the main bestsellers of the outgoing year.
At the Intellectual Literature Fair in the Central House of Artists, stands of several hundred publishers work, traditional round tables, creative meetings and presentations are held. The list of Russian participants includes well-known writers, critics, translators, representatives of "related arts" - artists and cinematographers. Organizers of the XVIII Non / fiction informed the public about the establishment of the annual Book Community Prize.
