The fourth season of “New Horizons” has won Automatic translate
MOSCOW. Maria Galina became a laureate of the New Horizons award for the novel Autochton.
The first place in the “New Horizons” continued the series of victories of “Autochtones” in the main “fantastic” contests: “Filigree” and the XVIII season of “ABS Prizes”. Galina’s book is a finalist of the National Bestseller, and is also included in the short list of the Big Book Prize, which will be announced at the end of the year. "Autochtones" are not limited to the framework of one genre. Fiction, an intellectual detective, mixed in with the myths and works of Paracelsus, a vivid non-conformist statement with a fascinating extraordinary plot. Galina broadcasts in Autochton her restrained, not too complimentary attitude to the Silver Age, interpreting the past century as a modernist project that failed.
The purpose of the investigation undertaken by the protagonist is to reconstruct the events of almost a hundred years ago related to the production of the avant-garde opera Death of Petronius. The past era is surprisingly looped with events and characters from the present day. Ghosts knocking on the door from the past, the excruciating mystery of the blue cup, werewolf bikers, a fiction skillfully built into reality. The book, persistently inviting for a second reading: savor the language, warn against the superficiality of the first impression, take a closer look at the nooks and crannies of the plot in search of lost details.
In addition to the novel, Galina presented the books “Kadyn” by Irina Bogatyreva, “Curly Braces” by Sergey Nosov and “Sunset Driver” by Evgeny Proshkin.
