So far, only the first volume of a two-part novel, The Order of the Yellow Lantern, has gone on sale. As always, in his new work Pelevin builds an alternative reality in which Emperor Paul I was not killed, but became an alchemist and disappeared from St. Petersburg. He hid not just like that, but to become the caretaker of a new world created by Franz Anton Mesmer. The ideas of so-called "mesmerism", the doctrine of the energy emitted by people, are generally widely reflected in the new novel by an extravagant writer.

The writer himself defined the genre of the new work as “somersault of thinking” - a peculiar combination of realism and mysticism.

Victor Pelevin is known to the Russian reader for novels such as Chapaev and the Void, Helmet of Terror, Empire V and the most famous Generation P, which was filmed in 2011.
