SHUYA. In honor of the 148th birthday of the famous Silver Age poet Konstantin Balmont, a festival-competition for poets and readers will be held on June 14 in his hometown of Shuya, Ivanovo Region. The cultural and educational event was organized with the support of the K.D. Balmont.

According to the organizers, the contest "Planet Konstantin Balmont" in honor of the outstanding Russian poet, a native of Shui, will be interesting to representatives of the museum community, as well as creative youth and residents of the city. Polina Chepinitskaya, vice president of the foundation, said that direct descendants of the poet were invited to the festival, including Shui native Mikhail Balmont, an activist of all Balmont movements in the region.

Within the framework of the competition, participants will read their favorite poems not only of Balmont, but also of other poets of the Silver Age, as well as works of their own composition. The winners of the competition will be determined in three nominations: “The sonorous name is Russia!” - for the best poetic work about Russia of his own composition, “My Silver Age” - for the best reading of poems and prose by Konstantin Balmont and other authors of that era and the nomination “White acacia in golden age… "- for the best musical performance on the poems of Balmont. Laureates will be awarded souvenirs and diplomas.

The festival will also include the solemn transfer of the portrait of the poet by Anastasia Nikitina to the fund of the Konstantin Balmont Literary Museum of Local Lore. Recall that the literary festival "Planet Konstantin Balmont" was established in 2014. His goal is to support young talented poets and popularize the work of Balmont in his native Ivanovo region.
