MOSCOW. The expert council of the Big Book national award named the names of nine writers who reached the finals of the jubilee, tenth season, among whom were Victor Pelevin, Dina Rubina and Roman Senchin. The shortlist of the award was announced yesterday at a literary dinner in GUM. The selection was made from thirty works of Russian authors.
So, Viktor Pelevin with the novel “Love for Three Zuckerbrines”, Anna Matveeva with a collection of short stories “Nineties”, Valery Zolotukha with his work “Candle”, Dina Rubina with the trilogy “Russian Canary”, Alexei Varlamov with the novel “The Mental Wolf”, Roman Senchin with the book “Flooding Zone”, Guzel Yakhina with the novel “Zuleikha opens her eyes”, Igor Virabov with the biography “Andrei Voznesensky” and Boris Yekimov with the book “Autumn in Zadonye”.
Further, the Literary Academy, consisting of more than a hundred critics, scientists, journalists and cultural figures, will read these works and select the three winners. The names of the three Big Book Award winners for 2015 will be announced at the end of November.
The chairman of the award’s expert council, Mikhail Butov, said that this year the award was most consistent with its name - for the first time, he and his colleagues had to read a large number of multi-page and sometimes multi-volume works. He also noted that more and more often he came across works in which the authors, when writing, turned to the traditional classical Russian novel with obligatory references to various historical events.
Recall that the National Literary Prize "Big Book" was established by the "Center for the Support of Russian Literature" in 2005. The winners of the prize annually receive a monetary reward for the first place - 3 million rubles, for the second - 1, 5 million rubles and for the third 1 million rubles.
