A museum named after Brodsky will open near Arkhangelsk Automatic translate
ARKHANGELSK. Not far from Arkhangelsk, on April 15, the world’s first museum of the famous poet Joseph Brodsky will open in the village of Norinsky Konoshsky District. The press service of the government of the Arkhangelsk region reported that it was there that Brodsky served the link to which he was sent on charges of parasitism in the mid-1960s. He stayed in the village for 18 months - from March 1964 to September 1965. During this period, more than 80 poems came from the pen of the poet.
The project to create a museum of the famous Russian poet in 2013 brought together dozens of enthusiasts from Arkhangelsk, Moscow and St. Petersburg. “For more than ten years, the house of exile of the Nobel laureate in Norinskaya was in an abandoned state. In March 2013, at a press conference in St. Petersburg, the Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region Igor Orlov promised that the house will be restored - it is a matter of honor for him, ”the press service said.
Work on the creation of the Brodsky Museum began in July 2014. The old house in which the poet lived had to be dismantled, and in its place an identical new log hut was created from exactly the same logs of the same age and size, purchased from the owners of a similar house in the Nikolsky district of the Vologda region. By the end of the year, restoration work was completed. The total cost of restoration work to create the Brodsky Museum was estimated at 4.5 million rubles. The project was not financed from the regional budget, funds for restoration were allocated by private entrepreneurs of Moscow and the Arkhangelsk region.
At the opening of the museum, which will take place already on Wednesday, Brodsky’s close friends will gather, as well as all who contributed to the creation of the poet’s literary heritage - philanthropists, social activists, journalists, and the regional governor Igor Orlov himself. In order to exchange experience, heads of other museums from Velsk, Kargopol and Solvychegodsk will also take part in the event. “The creation of Joseph Brodsky in the Norin Museum will make the small Konosha village attractive to admirers of the poet’s work from around the world, schoolchildren and students,” the regional governor said.
The regional government also noted that the Brodsky Museum in the village of Norinsky was the first in the world, since the restoration of the poet’s apartment in St. Petersburg is planned only in May 2015 for the anniversary of Brodsky.
