ST. PETERSBURG. The minor jury of the Russian bestseller Russian Literary Prize selected six works for this year’s short list. The list of finalists appeared on the official website of the National Bestseller.
Vadim Leventhal, a spokesman for the prize’s organizing committee, commented on the published news that this year a record was set for the number of points scored by the National Jury grand jury - Sergei Nosov’s novel “Curly braces” scored 19 points. “Well, the result is well deserved -“ Braces ”are really a great success of Sergei Nosov, who is already rightfully considered one of the greatest prose writers in St. Petersburg, and throughout Russia,” he wrote. He also said that for the first time on the short list of “National Best” was the writer Oleg Kashin, who was a member of the small jury a couple of years ago, and now he was in the category of contestants.
So, according to the list on the website, the finalists of “National Best” were: “Curly braces” by Sergei Nosov, who scored 19 points, “Gorbi-dream” by Oleg Kashin - 6 points, “Faith” by Alexander Snegirev - 6 points, “Nine nineties” by Anna Matveeva - 6 points, “Life of a Soviet girl” by Tatyana Moskvina - 5 points and “Crystal in a transparent frame” Vasily Avchenko also earned 5 points.

The chairman of the jury is a rock journalist, music critic Artemy Troitsky.
It is worth noting that this year the organizing committee established the prize "For personal courage in the cultural space", dedicated to the memory of the critic, translator and founder of the "National Bestseller" Viktor Toporov (1946-2013). Winners of the award were chosen by its co-founder Konstantin Dublin. Nadezhda Tolokonnikova shared a cash reward of $ 10,000 for her letters from the colony and Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of RT, was very flattered and noted that "personal courage is not required to express the views of the majority."
The voting of the jury of the National Bestseller, as well as the awarding ceremony will take place on June 7 in the conservatory of the Astoria Hotel. The winner of the prize will receive a cash award of $ 10 thousand, and the remaining participants in the short list will be awarded incentive prizes of $ 1 thousand.
