UGRA. On March 3, World Writer’s Day, in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, the Year of Literature began with the presentation of the Prize of the Governor of Ugra in literature in 2014. The event also included theatrical performances based on Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s operas "Sadko", Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s "Eugene Onegin" and the works of Leo Tolstoy.
The solemn ceremony of awarding the governor’s prize in the field of literature for 2014 was held in the organ hall of the CTC "Ugra-Classic", where poets, writers, literary critics and all lovers of literary creativity gathered. The prize laureates in the nomination "Poetry" were Dmitry Sergeyev for the collection of poetry "Coniferous paradise with gleams of birches" and Vladimir Volkovets for the collection of poetry "My river, memory-transit…". Vladimir Enov in the nomination "Children’s Literature" received an award for the work "Tales of the Family of True People: Mythological Tales of Khanty Folk Folklore."
Note that the annual prize of the Governor of Ugra in the field of literature was established back in 1998. Participants of the competition could send works to participate in four nominations - “Poetry”, “Children’s Literature”, “Fiction” and “Documentary, journalistic, non-fiction, non-fiction”. In 2014, for her competition, the organizing committee received 14 works of domestic writers in three categories.
After the award ceremony, the guests of the event watched the performance-essay of the Surgut Music and Drama Theater “So you read the necessary books in your childhood!” Excerpts from the works of the great Russian and foreign writers and poets - Pushkin, Dostoevsky, Chekhov, Gogol, Remarok, Vysotsky, Lorca, and Silver Age poets sounded from the stage.
Acting Governor of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug Natalya Komarova, commenting on the opening of the Year of Literature, said that in connection with the anniversary of the Great Victory, the district government decided to implement a special project to write the “Book of Memory”, which will collect the stories of life and deeds of the veterans of the Great Patriotic War of Khanty-Mansiysk counties. According to her, the organizers of the project have already managed to collect more than four thousand biographies. The first volume of the Book of Memory is scheduled to be published by April 1, 2015.
