BELGRADE. In order to popularize Russian culture in Serbia, the largest action to disseminate the works of great Russian writers began. According to the Russian Center for Science and Culture "Russian House" in Belgrade, the event is supported by Rossotrudnichestvo.

As part of the action, every Saturday, along with the release of the popular Serbian newspaper Blitz, subscribers and customers will receive books of classics of Russian literature as a gift. A series of gift works will be opened by Lev Tolstoy’s book “Sevastopol Stories”, printed in a circulation of 140 thousand copies. Representatives of the newspaper said that in the future they also plan to publish Gorky, Chekhov, Lermontov, Pushkin and other Russian writers. According to the director of Blitz, Veselin Simonovic, the newspaper will be able to continue the work begun earlier to popularize Russian literature in particular and culture in general in Serbia.

In turn, the chairman of the Society of Translators Milosh Konstantinovich positively assessed such an action and said that “these books, like seeds, will fall into good soil” and thus the younger generation will join in reading the works of Russian writers.

It is worth noting that in addition to the planned Saturday presents for readers, Blitz, with the support of the Russian House, already has a CD with the best Russian audio fairy tales read by a young Serbian actor Milos Bikovich, known for his publication on Mondays, Russians for roles in the films "Duhless 2" and "Sunstroke".

“The Russian House warmly supported the acquaintance of the Serbian audience with the best works of Russian literature, with Russian fairy tales that will help you better understand the Russian character, as well as the wide distribution of the famous Sevastopol Stories by Lev Tolstoy among the audience,” the director commented on the projects that had begun Information and Public Relations Sector of the Russian House Elena Zelinskaya.
