The international contest Reading Petersburg 2015 has begun Automatic translate
ST. PETERSBURG. The program of the international project “Reading Perthburg-2015. Choosing the best foreign writer ”works from 18 countries of Europe, Latin America and the USA take part. The start of this “national competition”, in which the readers themselves determine the winner, was announced on March 4 at a ceremony held at the Vladimir Mayakovsky Central City Public Library.
The works of foreign writers were presented at the ceremony by employees of cultural centers and consulates general, accredited in St. Petersburg. They were honored to choose the literary novelties of their countries. Traditionally, the winners will be determined in two categories - among the authors whose works have been translated into Russian, as well as among writers, which can be read in the original language.
It is worth noting that for the first time in the years of the competition, Serbia took part in it. She submitted to the project a spy novel by the author Deyan Luchich "Chinese revenge." This is a tough political thriller about the struggle between two spy organizations of the West and the East. Also in the thriller genre for the competition is the novel of the Italian writer Francesco Fioretti “The Secret Book of Dante”, in which he makes up for the white spots in the biography of his great compatriot. But the work of the Chilean author and violinist Isabelle Meyado Bravo, “The Dog Who Eated Silence,” written in the genre of stories, tells of the two passions of the writer - music and literature. Also, the female half of the readers may be interested in the song about feelings, which was nicknamed the novel “Music of Love” by the writer Angela Besser Acevedo, recognized as one of the most read in the Spanish-speaking world.
According to the director of the library Zoya Chalova, the main goal of the competition is "to attract the attention of Petersburgers to the world literary heritage and the work of the best contemporary foreign writers." During the year, citizens are expected to meet with writers of countries participating in the project, and films on the art and work of participating countries will be screened at different venues in the city. The first event organized as part of the competition will be the “Window to Russia” evening, where a meeting will be held with the winner of the project “Reading Petersburg-2013” - Swiss writer Helen Richard-Favre.
