International Book Festival to be held on Red Square Automatic translate
MOSCOW. On Wednesday, March 4, at an open press conference, representatives of Rospechat announced that the Moscow International Book Festival, scheduled as part of the Year of Literature in Russia, will be held on Red Square from June 25 to 28, 2015. The event is expected to present to the general public the best examples of international and domestic book publishing, to conduct various discussions and meetings of writers with readers. Various activities aimed at the younger generation will also be organized.
Mikhail Seslavinsky, deputy head of the organizing committee for the Year of Literature 2015 in Russia, noted that over the past twenty years many different events have been held on Red Square, but the book fair will be held for the first time. He also said that the scale of this place allows for a decent book fair, at which Russian publishers from all regions of Russia will be able to present their books. “This will be an open event without tickets and passes. I think that holding a book festival in such a symbolic place as Red Square will help form a powerful impetus so that we again draw attention to reading and the book, ”he said.
Note that in June last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a decree on holding the Year of Russian Literature in 2015. In his opinion, the Year of Literature in Russia will be able to become a bright, unifying society program.
