MOSCOW. Today, February 10th marks the 125th anniversary of the birth of the Russian writer, the greatest poet of the twentieth century, Nobel laureate Boris Leonidovich Pasternak. In honor of this event, State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin visited the writer’s house-museum.
The writer lived in this house for 20 years, here he wrote poetry, translated Goethe and Shakespeare, learned about the awarding of the Nobel Prize (1958), and also wrote his world famous novel “Doctor Zhivago”. Sergei Naryshkin noted that Pasternak’s house-museum is in good condition, it can be seen that all exhibits are treated with care. He also asked how many modern youth visit the classic’s house.
“Today’s visit to Pasternak’s house-museum is symbolic, we know how difficult the relationship was not only between the poet and the century, but also the poet and the state, and today, on the day when Pasternak’s 125th birthday is celebrated, his role in Russian culture and in world culture is completely obvious. Therefore, in today’s event has its own symbolism. Parsnip recognized, Parsnip raised to the height he deserves. Maybe not everyone understood this, but now everyone who appreciates Russian culture understands it, ”comments Dmitry Bak, director of the State Literary Museum.
In the Pasternak Museum everything is the same as it was with him. His coat is hanging, boots are standing in the corner - the right one is higher than the left one, orthopedic - after falling from a horse the writer’s legs have become of different lengths. On the walls hang the originals of paintings by father Boris - Leonid Osipovich Pasternak.
The head of the museum, Irina Erisanova, noted that during the anniversary year Pasternak’s house will host many events dedicated to the writer: international conferences, thematic evenings and exhibitions, work with children will be actively carried out to familiarize the younger generation with the work of the great Russian writer and poet. Irina also said that recently, the museum has regularly held an “Permanent Excursion” - an event in which museum workers examine and fill in the white spots in Pasternak’s biography. Then, every Friday a guided lecture is held, each time a new page of the writer’s life story opens.
“I went to Pasternak’s neighbors. And one of the most amazing stories that struck me was the story of his relationship, short-lived, with the dacha - through the dacha - on which Alexander Afinogenov lived in 37. And I decided to take a closer look at this story, because Pasternak was the only one who came to the house of a man who was waiting for his arrest. And this is an act, ”says Irina Erisanova.
