Sverdlovsk region collects "Wagon and a small cart" of books for citizens Automatic translate
YEKATERINBURG. A unique action called "The Wagon and the Small Cart", organized by the Sverdlovsk Railway Company in conjunction with the local regional universal library named after Belinsky, started in Yekaterinburg.
The purpose of the action is to collect books, which will then be distributed among the suburban trains. So the organizers decided to help pass the time on the journey and to familiarize passengers with reading books. They have already installed floor bookshelves and filled them with literature in the Yekaterinburg-Kamensk-Uralsky and Yekaterinburg-Nizhny Tagil commuter trains. Any passenger can take a book they like and even, if necessary, take it with them. At the same time, readers can leave their works so that other passengers can familiarize themselves with them. Such mobile libraries in trains will operate in the “bookcrossing” mode - free book exchange.
The general director of the Sverdlovsk suburban railway company, Yevgeny Savostin, said that the action was timed to coincide with the beginning of the Year of Literature in Russia. “We hope that people will take part in our campaign and supplement their mobile library with their books,” he said.
Anyone can take part in the collection of books; literature has already begun to be accepted at the Belinsky Sverdlovsk Library. Library spokesman Evgeni Ivanov noted that when choosing books, preference is given to novels by famous Russian and foreign writers, popular book novelties, as well as Russian and foreign classical literature. “Entertaining reading, books with an exciting plot are also welcome. And poetry collections can certainly serve as an excellent occasion for a new acquaintance on the road, ”he added.
According to the Ministry of Culture of the Sverdlovsk Region, the action “Wagon and Small Cart” promises to be one of the most interesting projects carried out as part of the Year of Literature. If such bookcrossing is successful, then it is planned to be implemented on all trains in Russia.
