ARKHANGELSK. As part of the Year of Literature, the government presented a unique project - for people with visual impairment in Arkhangelsk opened a club for reading enthusiasts, “Meditation”.
An unusual but extremely important project for society was proposed and developed by the local regional library for the blind with the support of the Arkhangelsk organization of the blind. Such a literary club was created with the aim of providing an opportunity to familiarize people with visual impairments with the latest in literature. According to the organizers of the project, classical and modern prose, as well as theme nights and meetings with famous literary critics, will make people feel their importance and strengthen their national spirit.
The first meeting recently held in the club "Meditation" was dedicated to the 155th anniversary of the great Russian classic A.P. Chekhov. Participants in the evening read excerpts from Chekhov’s works, discussed his work and life. It is noteworthy that some facts from the life of the playwright were surprising for many present. The guests of the meeting were satisfied with the evening and promised to visit the club regularly. So, on February 18, the next meeting will be held, the theme of which will be “Creativity and the Life Path of Fyodor Abramov”.
As part of the Year of Literature in Russia, the government of the Arkhangelsk region is going to initiate and implement more than one such project. And the idea of creating a network of literary clubs “Meditation” in many regions of Russia has already been proposed to the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
