The purpose of the action, organized by the Ulyanovsk Regional Library for Children and Youth named after S.T. Aksakov, is to attract the population of the region to read books.

According to the organizers, this event has been held for several years. So, in 2013, about 30 thousand readers took part in the action. Previously, it was held at the international level, but then ceased to operate. “This year the marathon is held at the regional level as an open campaign. Among the participants are municipal organizations of Ulyanovsk, the Ulyanovsk region and other regions. It is held in honor of the upcoming 2015 - the Year of Literature in the Russian Federation, ”the press service of the marathon organizers said.

This year, more than one thousand organizations of the region at exactly 11:00 will stop all their affairs and for 2015 seconds will plunge into the world of books. In schools, hospitals, libraries, boarding schools and orphanages, as well as in all state educational institutions of the Ulyanovsk region, excerpts from works of art by Russian authors will be heard. Also this year, the chairman of the Regional Family Council O. V. Zheltova will take part in the action. According to the staff of the regional library, for her the book in life occupies a special place.
