As the organizers said, they will hand out awards to those authors whose books talk about the theater, and their works must be published in Russian no later than two years before the start of the literary contest.

The ceremony of awarding the laureates of the Theatrical Novel Prize will be held for the first time on November 27 at the M.N. Ermolova. The organizers of the event emphasize that to date, analogues of the award do not exist either in Russia or in other countries of the world.

“We conceived this award a year ago. The idea arose from a bitter awareness of the difficult situation with literature on theater in Russia. The circulation of such literature is scanty, and no one informs about these books about the theater. They don’t even know about new interesting publications appearing in St. Petersburg even in Moscow, not to mention the province, ”said Dmitry Rodionov, director of the Bakhrushin Museum. He also noted that the “Theater Novel” award was created with the aim of attracting attention to theatrical literature, which can be very diverse and interesting not only for specialists, but also for a wide range of readers.

The chairman of the jury of the literary prize "Theater Novel" will be Konstantin Raikin, artistic director of the Moscow theater "Satyricon". This year the awarding ceremony will be held in five main and two additional nominations.
