PARIS. This year, the prestigious literary Goncourt Prize, awarded for works published in French, was awarded to writer Lydie Salvayre. The author was awarded an award for the novel Pas pleurer (Do Not Cry, Seuil) this year.

In the work of Lidi Salver, it tells about the difficult period of 1936-1939, the civil war in Spain, which is its historical homeland. The story is conducted on behalf of two characters - the French writer Georges Bernanos, who lived in Spain at that time, and mother Lidi, who was fifteen at the time the war began.

The Goncourt Prize has been awarded to writers since 1903. The size of the award is symbolic - only 10 euros, however, the greatest value of this award is that the books of the laureates will be published in large quantities. Winners are traditionally awarded during dinner at the Parisian Druant restaurant.

Last year, the writer Goncourt Prize was received by the writer Pierre Lemétre for his novel “See You Upstairs”; in 2012, Jerome Ferrari became the laureate with the novel Sermon on the Fall of Rome. At different times, the winners were Patrick Modiano, who received the Nobel Prize for Literature this year, Maurice Druon, Marcel Proust, Michelle Welbeck and Henri Trois.
