According to The Hollywood Reporter, American writer Adam Mansbach plans to release a new book in November called You Have to Fucking Eat. After such success, the author released an updated version called "Seriously, Just Go To Sleep." In 2013, a contract was signed with Fox 2000 to create a feature film based on the book. The script is being worked by Ken Marino and Erica Oyama.

The author’s daughter served as the motivation for creating the book: after long attempts to make the little child sleep, the writer decided to “take a breath” and jokingly wrote on Facebook that he plans to release the book “The The Fuck To Sleep” in the near future. Mansbach’s friends liked this record so much that he really decided to write a book. The result was a rather interesting work with children’s tricks and an illustration of the artist Ricardo Cortes. Before being released for sale, Akashic Publishing House sent out an electronic version of the book to many online bookstores and it instantly spread among readers. In the future, already from the shelves of bookstores, the work was mainly bought for gifts, but this did not prevent him from becoming a bestseller.
