VORONEZH. “Redneck Exercises” - under this name, the Art Gallery of the Chamber Theater presented its guests an exhibition of works created by Alexander Nozhkin, a famous Voronezh artist. The first visitors came to the exhibition on February 11, the day of the author’s anniversary. On this day, Alexander Nozhkin could celebrate his sixtieth birthday. The artist in 2000 tragically died.
Almost two decades have passed, but the friends of Alexander Nozhkin systematically organize exhibitions of his works, collecting a considerable number of fans of the artist. Unusual ironic images born of the Voronezh artist always attracted connoisseurs of his talent.
Voronezh has always played a big role in Nozhkin’s work. The artist created many comic luboks dedicated to his hometown. The use of stylization for primitive art gives a special flavor to these works. Alexander embodied scenes born of his imagination in his popular prints, but each of them signed - “eyewitness A. Nozhkin”.
Professional education Alexander Nozhkin received at the Voronezh art school. After his graduation, he worked at the Central Black Earth Publishing House. On his account, the design of more than 300 books, participation in exhibitions held in Russia and other countries. The artist’s works adorn the collections of famous personalities.
The sculptor Sergey Gorshkov, a close friend of Alexander Nozhkin, worked on the creation of the exposition. The works presented in the exhibition hall belong to Sergey Gorshkov and Irina Nozhkina, the artist’s widow. In addition to the famous luboks, at the exhibition you can see a series of “Voronezh beauties”, unique photographs and sculptures.
The exhibition will be open until March 11.
