SERGIEV POSAD. Competition exhibition "Autumn Salon" from October 20 is open in the museum-reserve. Its exposition includes more than 150 works of art created over the three years that have passed since the last Autumn Salon. The participants were 83 craftsmen living and working in Sergiev Posad.
They presented for the exhibition works made in almost all genres. The main building of the museum houses paintings and graphic works, sculptural works. The section of the exhibition with paintings is extremely diverse. In addition to traditional landscapes, still lifes and portraits, it included genre compositions of various subjects.
The graphic section is also striking in the variety of subjects of works made in various techniques. Visitors to the exhibition will see both original and printed graphics. No less diverse is the collection of sculptures selected by artists for the exhibition-competition.
When creating sculptural works, the masters used bronze and ceramics, gypsum and wood. The heroes of the sculptural works were the images of Russian saints, cultural figures. Among the works of sculptors can be seen and abstract compositions. Such a variety of works of art collected in a single space enables residents and guests of Sergiev Posad to get acquainted with the work of local artists. Some of them are well-known connoisseurs of art.
Exhibition project Autumn Salon ”held in Sergiev Posad for more than two decades. Now it has become not only an exhibition, but also a competition, the winners of which will be determined in several categories. Among them is the “Choice of the Spectator”. Voting will be held until November 24th. On this day, the results of the competition will be solemnly summed up.
