NIZHNY NOVGOROD. An exhibition of the works of the Nizhny Novgorod artist Lyuba Lyubimova opened on July 13 at the National Museum of the National Economy. The artist presented her works under the name “Voiles libres. Free paintings ”, having selected for the exposition 20 works included in the“ Prisoners ”series. Lyuba Lyubimova created these canvases for her personal exhibition, held in Strasbourg.
The exhibition space provided to the artist to display her works was the building of the Higher Administrative School. Since there was previously a women’s prison, the name of the series of works by Lyuba Lyubimova became symbolic, although the artist’s works only include ships, interiors, dresses and mirrors.
The artist is not showing her work in Nizhny Novgorod for the first time. This Volga city is for Lyuba Lyubimova a native from birth. Here her childhood and youth passed, here she studied at the Faculty of Architecture. The artist’s profession became hereditary for Lyuba Lyubimova - her father, Valentin Lyubimov, a talented monumental artist.
The young artist began to participate in regional exhibitions since 1984. Then followed personal displays of her work, held in the galleries Pokrovka and Atelier. Lyuba Lyubimova also presented her work in the House of Peter the Great. However, one of the exhibitions, held in 1998 in Paris, significantly changed the life of the artist.
Luba dreamed of an exhibition in France. The dream came true thanks to a letter sent by the artist to the French representative office of Russia, along with photographs of her works. In response, Lyuba Lyubimova received an invitation to show her work in Paris.
The artist also does not forget about Nizhny Novgorod. Two years ago, the artist showed her work in the gallery of Sergei Tumanin.
Her new exhibition at NGVK can be seen until August 21.
