MOSCOW. The long-awaited event, long awaited by art lovers, took place. On June 7, the Pushkin Museum inaugurated a large-scale exhibition of the works of Lev Bakst, the brightest representative of the Art Nouveau era - an artist, set designer, illustrator. In the name of the exhibition, its organizers used the double spelling of the name of the artist - “Lev Bakst. Leon Bakst ”, thereby emphasizing the importance of his work in world art.
The first visitors to the exhibition invited to its opening were famous cultural figures, artists and journalists. The next day, everyone who wanted to see a large-scale project, the creation of which was timed to the anniversary, could get into the museum. 150 years have passed since the birthday of Lev Bakst, a world-class master.
Even regular visitors to the Pushkin Museum, who do not miss any of the significant exhibitions held at the museum, cannot remember such a large-scale exhibition project as the opening exhibition. The art of Lev Bakst, presented at the exhibition, occupied not only the main building of the Pushkin Museum, but also two halls of the Museum of Private Collections.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the exhibition, Marina Loshak, Director of the Pushkin Museum, spoke about what visitors to the unique exhibition will be able to see. She noted that the organizers of the exhibition tried to tell in detail about the artist, who created a world around him filled with beauty.
Among 250 works, many of which have not been seen in Russia before, are theatrical costumes and unique fabrics created by the artist’s sketches, landscapes and portraits painted by Lev Bakst. The largest museums of the world and collectors from Russia and abroad participated in the creation of the exposition.
Acquaintance with the exhibition will continue until September 4. An educational program has also been organized for museum guests.
