ST. PETERSBURG. The Naval Museum (CVMM) celebrated the anniversary of Alexander Beggrov, a famous marine painter, with an exhibition dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the “artist of the sea”. The exposition housed paintings and drawings, complemented by genuine objects found on ships, whose images can be seen on the canvases of the master.
The opened exhibition will be the first of a series of displays of works by artists whose work is displayed in the expositions and in the repositories of the Naval Museum. This project will include not only exhibitions. Each of the displays of the works of artists presented at the TsVMM collection will be accompanied by a presentation of the catalog, which will include a detailed biography of the master. The creation of this museum project was supported by the Department of Culture, which is part of the Ministry of Defense.
Museum employees called the opening exhibition of Alexander Beggrov a window to a large museum. Some of the artist’s paintings are presented in the form of interactive screens with their images. In this way, viewers are invited to expand the scope of the exhibition by visiting museum halls.
Alexander Beggrov since 1865, after graduating from the Engineering School of the Naval Ministry, served on the ships of the Baltic Fleet. A. Beggrov’s artistic abilities were noticed, and in 1878 he was appointed to the Naval Department, where he was appointed artist of the Naval Ministry. The exposition included one of the early works of A. Beggrova - the drawing “Frigate Oslyabya” created in 1866.
Visitors to the exhibition were also presented with the later works of the master, some of which are well known to lovers of pictorial art on the marine theme. The graphic series depicting moments of the creation of new ships are also included in the exposition.
The exhibition is waiting for guests until July 3.
