Paintings of the younger Bruegels from the Mauerhaus collection at an exhibition in the Nizhny Novgorod Art Museum Automatic translate
NIZHNY NOVGOROD. Recently in Moscow, the exhibition “Our Bruegels” was held with great success, representing the work of the famous dynasty of artists. Since April 6, Nizhny Novgorod art connoisseurs have the opportunity to see paintings made by younger representatives of the family of famous artists.
At the opening of the exhibition, housed in the Nizhny Novgorod Museum of Art, Roman Zhukarin, director general of the State Oil and Chemical Museum, said that the idea of creating an opening exhibition was born immediately after the Moscow exhibition. Museum employees from other cities had the same desire, but it was not easy to fulfill. Only specialists in NGM managed to bring the idea to life.
The special significance of the exhibition of Flemish masters that opened in Nizhny Novgorod is that of the 14 works performed by Peter and Jan Brueghel, only two were presented at the exhibition in the Pushkin Museum. The public will see the remaining paintings for the first time. All works presented at the exposition of the Nizhny Novgorod exhibition belong to collector Konstantin Mauergauz.
Mauerhaus began collecting his collection not very long ago, but it is quite extensive. The collection contains more than a hundred works created by artists of Northern Europe, who worked in the 15-17 centuries. The basis of this collection were paintings by the younger representatives of the Brueghel dynasty.
Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Roman Zhukarin noted the importance of the project created by the museum. It became not only federal, but also international, because the display in the exposition of rare works by Flemish artists belonging to a private collection became the world premiere. It’s nice that the premiere took place in Nizhny Novgorod.
