Exhibition of Vladimir Shinkarev "Gloomy Pictures" opened at the Center for Contemporary Art "Winery" Automatic translate
MOSCOW. The pop / off / art gallery located at the Vinzavod Center for Contemporary Art presented a personal exhibition of Vladimir Shinkarev, known not only as a talented artist, but also as the creator of the legend - the St. Petersburg art group Mitki. The exhibition, which opened under the name “Gloomy Pictures”, is of particular interest to the public because the last time in the capital Shinkarev showed his work about ten years ago.
Then the exhibition "Films" was joint with the artist K. Batynkov, the gallery also showed pop / off / art. After this exhibition, Vladimir Shinkarev worked for a long time with the famous Bruno Bischofberger Gallery, located in Switzerland. This gallery has opened Europe to several artists who have become figures in world art. Now Shinkarev’s contract in Switzerland has ended, and the artist decided to continue working with the familiar pop / off / art gallery.
For the exhibition were selected paintings included in the painting cycle, begun by the artist back in the nineties. It includes paintings of the same size (60 x 80 cm), written in a single color scheme, striving for monochrome. There is one more nuance in this cycle, uniting all the works presented in the exposition - each canvas is dedicated to St. Petersburg.
On the canvases of Shinkarev there are no bright colors characteristic of modern cities saturated with advertising. The artist believes that without advertising, the real world looks much more harmonious. Although Vladimir Shinkarev long ago departed from the work of the Mitki group, he retained a feature characteristic of those years - the ability to see poetry in any environment. Therefore, he finds discreet beauty in the districts of St. Petersburg.
“Gloomy Pictures” can be seen on April 17, however, quite soon the audience will see a retrospective of Vladimir Shinkarev’s work.
