SARATOV. More than thirty years ago, the Saratov artist Boris Medvedkin painted watercolors, naming his work “Nostalgia”. In those years, the famous Tarkovsky film of the same name appeared on the screens. The artist has forever captured the impressions received from the film in his memory. For his personal exhibition, presented on February 5 at the Radishchev Museum, Boris Medvedkin again chose the name "Nostalgia".

In the Radischevsky Museum, a personal exhibition of Boris Medvedkin is held for the second time. For the first time, the artist showed his works at an exhibition held in 2009 at the museum branch - Borisov-Musatov Manor. The magnificent watercolors collected in the exhibition, the artist then also presented under the name "Nostalgia."

The nostalgic theme that was voiced in each of the exhibits emphasizes the closeness of two artists of the same generation who were looking for the meaning and truth of life. These searches have led to new forms of embodiment of their attitude. For some, the “austerity” has become a new aesthetic; some have turned to neorealism.

In the watercolors painted by Boris Medvedkin in the 60-70s, the romanticism typical of the sixties is clearly visible. One of the watercolor series born by the artist in those years is dedicated to aviation, and another collection was created during travels in Siberia. Although the artist painted watercolors dedicated to the Volga at different times, one can also make a landscape series from them, reflecting the state of mind of the author.

If the previous “Nostalgia” included only watercolor works, then today’s exposition also includes paintings. Most of these works depicting the Volga landscapes date back to the 2000s.
