The international exhibition and competition of contemporary art Russian Art Week has been held for the eleventh time, demonstrating the work of eminent masters and aspiring artists since 2007 for evaluation by expert advice. The main difference of the next Art Week is the competition of portraits: International Portrait Art Week. This is the first project of this scale, dedicated to portraiture, which takes place on the territory of the Russian Federation and allows portraitists from all over our country and abroad to express themselves at one of the main art venues in the post-Soviet space.

The exhibition started on January 16 and in two days gathered more than a thousand guests, many of whom managed to participate in master classes conducted by artists. Among them are such masters as Alexander Arkhipov, Valery Ryabovol and Raisa Arefieva.

At three exhibition projects, 1,200 works of full-time and part-time artists from 37 cities of Russia, countries of the near and far abroad (Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, China, Iran, Italy) were presented. For the first time, works in the style of temporal art are exhibited, where the formative factor of creation is time in all its directions.

One of the most interesting events at the exhibition was the action “Portraits of Friends 2016. Artists of the World Against Terror and Violence”, organized by the Tetra-Art group led by Igor Suvorov, which pleased the guests with a mini-performance in Venetian masks. On a large canvas, everyone was able to depict a portrait of fair participants or a self-portrait in a free and even comic form, thereby showing their solidarity.

The ceremony was opened by Valery Andreyevich Ryabovol and Viktor Konstantinovich Kalenov, who participate in the exposition this year. The presence of the opening ceremony was also honored by the Coordinator of the Moscow branch of the LDPR Chernyshov Boris Alexandrovich. He noted the importance of such projects and stated the need to conduct it on an ongoing basis in the exhibition halls of the State Duma.

The halls of the exhibition center were shrouded in a friendly and festive atmosphere, and most importantly - genuine interest, which once again proved to the organizers and participants the strategic importance of this international project.

The exhibition-competition is open until January 24 and invites everyone to get acquainted with the art of contemporary artists. At the close, the results will be summarized and the winners in each of the competitions will be determined. The best works will be included in the “New Faces in Art” catalog and will receive guaranteed participation in the overseas exhibition projects of the “Art of the Future” Foundation in the cities of Italy, Spain, Denmark, Iran and China.
