On December 17, the city museum of fine arts held the grand opening of the exhibition dedicated to the 180th anniversary of Alexei Korzukhin, “Academician of Painting from the Uktus Plant”. Born in Yekaterinburg, Alexei Ivanovich became an outstanding Russian painter, whose path to art was fundamentally different from the formation of most artists.
The first paintings written by the artist were created at a time when he worked as a craftsman of the mining department. After some time, Alexey Korzukhin became one of the leading masters creating realistic genre paintings, became a sought-after metropolitan portrait painter.
The works written by Alexei Korzukhin are stored in the Russian Museum and the Tretyakov Gallery. However, the bulk of his work in these museums belongs to the artist’s life in St. Petersburg. The Yekaterinburg Museum has a significant number of works by Korzukhin of his early work.

Thus, the created exposition is made up of fifty works performed by Alexey Korzukhin in various techniques.
A separate section designates the St. Petersburg period, which has become the longest part of the artist’s biography. Although Alexey Korzukhin studied at the Academy of Arts successfully, but the full course of study did not pass. But he was in the center of events in the artistic life of St. Petersburg. Like many of his colleagues, Aleksey Korzukhin entered the “Wanderers” society, becoming one of its first members.
