ASTRAKHAN. Picture Gallery named after Dogadina is waiting for visitors to the Fairy Tale in Colors exhibition, which opened on December 15th. The exhibition is part of the “Christmas Meetings” project, its exposition is created from the works stored in the gallery funds. Museum employees dedicated the opening of the exhibition to the ninetieth anniversary of May Miturich-Khlebnikov, a famous artist who created a huge number of illustrations for the works of popular children’s writers.
The exposition contains more than two dozen sketches, which became the first step of Miturich-Khlebnikov in creating illustrations for the books of Chukovsky, Bianka and Krylov. In total, the gallery contains more than a hundred sketches of illustrations created by the artist in the process of illustrating famous works of literature. At least one hundred books for children are presented in his creative heritage, illustrations for which were completed by May Petrovich.
The creators of the exhibition included graphic works by the famous Astrakhan artist N. N. Skokov, who headed the Astrakhan art gallery in the seventies. His work is represented by illustrations for the collection, consisting of Russian fairy tales, published in the fifties. Many guests of the gallery will be pleased to meet with the heroes of Kipling, embodied in the illustrations of V. Duvidov.
Presented in the exposition are the works of M. Gorshman, who created illustrations for the famous fairy tale “Town in a Snuffbox” by V. Odoevsky. The names of the artists whose works were selected for the exhibition are well known to those who read the tales of Marshak, the brothers Grimm, Andersen in childhood. Illustrations to these tales, owned by E. Monin, are also on display.
The exhibition “Tale in Colors” is available in the gallery until January 31.
