TOLYATTI. Pushkin’s line “Wanderlust” became the name of the exhibition of works by Moscow artist Myuda Mechev. Tolyatti art connoisseurs, having visited the exhibition that opened on November 12 at the city’s art museum, will see 55 works with images of the artist’s favorite places.
Myud Mechev generously shares with visitors to the exhibition his impressions gained while traveling around the world. Among his works there are views of Moscow, Petersburg landscapes. The exhibition presents watercolor works by the artist, as well as gouache and pastel.
The artist presented his work at many exhibitions. Only personal exhibitions Myud Marievich showed about fifty. The versatility of the artist’s talent brought him fame not only in paintings and watercolors, but also in book illustrations.
Particularly known illustrations made in the technique of engraving. For fifteen years, Myud Mechev created illustrations for the publication of The Tale of Bygone Years. It took the same amount of time to create graphic illustrations for the unique edition of the Gospel, released in 2008. This silver folio was adorned with 264 engravings by Myud Mechev.
In the process of illustrating The Tale of Bygone Years, the artist created more than four hundred prints. The Togliatti Museum holds 65 of them. These works of Myuda Mechev became the reason for creating the opening exhibition. The opening ceremony was attended by Olga Khlopina, the wife of M. Mechev.
The exposition also presents books, illustrations of which were made by Myud Mechev. Among them are the magnificent editions of the New Testament and The Tale of Bygone Years donated to the museum.
