Among connoisseurs of Irkutsk art, the name of Alexei Fatyanov is known not only as the head of the regional museum, but also as a famous collector. Thanks to his organizational talent, the funds of the IOCM during the work of Alexei Fatyanov increased four times.

If initially the museum collection consisted of three thousand exhibits, then under the leadership of Alexei Dementievich it increased to 12 thousand works of various genres. The creators of the exposition placed more than a hundred works in the halls of IOKhM, the authors of which were the best artists representing Soviet art. They were created in the second half of the past century and became a historical reflection of the events of an entire era.

The exhibition space reserved for the placement of paintings by Soviet artists reflected the main events that became the pride of the Soviet era - great construction projects, victories in the Patriotic War, flights to space. Museum staff devoted more than four months to creating the opening exhibition. Among the participants in the preparation of the exposition were researchers, custodians of museum funds and restorers.

The exhibition, where you can see the work of such artists as Alexander Deineka, Igor Grabar, Isaac Brodsky and other artists of the Soviet era, will be open on November 7th.
